Cesky Palace

This is the Medieval town and castle we visited today. It's a couple of hours outside of Prague. It's very beautiful and picturesque! Then there were the random fingers all over the town. My only guess is that they were pointing to the art shop. If you look closely, you can see in the picture that the paint tubes are actually fingers! I have absolutely no explanation.......but you will never believe it, I actually walked out of an art store and didn't buy anything!!! It's a miracle!

Prague Day 1

Well, we finally made it after what feels like the longest couple of days ever. Our flights were smooth and uneventful for the most part, which we are very thankful! We did have a couple of little hick-ups, our flight in London was delayed about an hour, which ended up messing with our luggage. Once we made it to Prague, we waited and waited and waited on our luggage. We even waited until the little red suitcase with a big line running through it, indicating all the luggage for the flight was out. That’s when we started to get a bit worried, but we realized that many people from our flight were waiting also. After about an hour of standing there, they finally came through!!! Praise the Lord!
So then the real adventure began…
My traveling partner decided we should do a city travel pass because it would be cheaper than a cab. I kept asking, “are you sure?!?” So we got the pass and all we had to go off of were some very vague directions. So we got on the bus, then the underground train, then another underground train, then we got off when we were suppose to, and that was the end of the directions. After looking some more, we finally found the address of the place. With no dorm looking building in sight, we started walking down the cobble stone sidewalks with all our luggage in tow. After several minutes of walking and no luck this wonderful Czech lady stopped and helped us. After trying to explain “the big store” to us, she finally took pity on us and walked us personally over there. I do believe she was an angel set from Heaven, because we seriously would have never found the place! We were so glad to see the familiar faces of our professors and they were glad to see us, too!
By the time we made it to the dorm, it was already 6:00pm here and dinnertime, so we dropped our stuff in the room and rushed off to dinner, but not before brushing our teeth and getting some fresh deodorant!
I had a traditional meat and potatoes dinner consisting of some really delicious roast with a cranberry sauce. There were also Czech dumplings, which have more of the consistency of bread and a sweet cream sauce with whip cream – interesting…
So, now after a wonderful, hot shower and another teeth brushing, I write as I am listening to church bells ringing on the hour and fireworks. Too bad I can only hear the fireworks and not see them. Oh well! It’s time for some good sleep!!!

Here We Go!

Well it's 6:30am and I've been awake long before the alarm went off. You know the routine...trying to remember all those little things to do and pack you thought about after getting into bed the night before, praying you don't forget anything too important and stuffing all the little extras into your suit case at the last moment all while picking it up to make sure it's not too heavy.

Our flight leaves College Station at 10:55 this morning to Dallas. We will then fly from Dallas to London and London to Prague, hopefully getting there a liitle after 2:00 pm on the 5th. My professor already informed me that my traveling companion and I will be scoping everything out our first day while everyone else has to go to class!! I love it!!! Half way around the Globe and I'll already be skipping class! :)
Any how I now have a mission to find the best strudel in Prague...
Brice and I happened to turn on the travel channel night before last and low and behold one of the girls was talking about this amazing strudel. The only problem is the place really doesn't have a name, it's just this guy who makes it in his personal kitchen and sells it out of the window!! So all I have to go on is that it's about 25 min from the city's center and there are bright orange bars on the window.... Normally I would say it's too sketchy, but if the Travel Channel features it, you know it has to be awesome! (Well that is the hope anyway. You know Samantha Brown is NEVER wrong!)
Well I'm off to stuff some more needless things into my suitcase, just in case!!

The count down had begun until the long trip to Prague. The next two days are going to be filled with lots of cleaning, organizing, & packing as we get the apartment ready for everyone when they come for Brice's graduation in 10 days!!!
